DRDO successfully conducted the flight-test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR) at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha on July 8, 2026. The rocket demonstrated precision at the user-defined minimum range of 60 km, executing all planned in-flight manoeuvres and impacting the designated target with textbook accuracy. The Pinaka LRGR can engage area targets from 60 to 120 km with multiple warhead options: High Explosive Pre-Fragmented, Penetration cum Blast, Thermobaric, and Cluster Munitions. It was developed by ARDE in collaboration with HEMRL, DRDL, and Research Centre Imarat. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Indian Army, and industry partners.
