The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is set to release India's first national standards for mangrove restoration. India has approximately 4,992 sq km of mangroves — the 4th largest in the world — concentrated in the Sundarbans (West Bengal), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and the Gujarat coast.
