About This Notification
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the CRP PO/MT-XVI notification on 30 June 2026, inviting applications for 6,715 indicative vacancies of Probationary Officer (PO) / Management Trainee (MT) across 11 participating public sector banks, for the recruitment cycle covering vacancies of 2027-28. This is the 16th edition of the IBPS PO exam, conducted annually since 2011.
Online applications are open from 1 July 2026 to 21 July 2026 at www.ibps.in. This year's vacancy count (6,715) is approximately 29% higher than the previous cycle (an increase of 1,507 posts). Note that vacancy figures are indicative and may still rise, since Indian Bank, UCO Bank, and Union Bank of India have not yet reported their numbers ("NR" in the official notification).
Bank-wise vacancy leaders: Bank of Baroda (1,900), Canara Bank (1,500), and Bank of Maharashtra (1,100) account for the bulk of reported posts.
Category-wise vacancy split (reported banks): SC 1,009, ST 502, OBC 1,816, EWS 669, Unreserved (UR) 2,719. Within these, PwBD-specific reservations are: Hearing Impaired (HI) 73, Orthopedically Challenged (OC) 70, Visually Impaired (VI) 67, and Intellectual Disability (ID) 77.
What's new in the 2026 notification:
- The Mains exam pattern has been revised - objective section now has 170 questions for 200 marks (up from 145 questions previously), with changes to the section-wise question/marks distribution. The descriptive paper is unchanged.
- A new PwBD eligibility clause has been added in line with the latest government guidelines, including a new requirement to submit UDID (Unique Disability ID) card authentication during registration.
- A 2-day Edit Application Window will open after the registration period closes, allowing one correction per candidate for a fee of Rs 200 (inclusive of GST, non-refundable, applicable to all categories). Name, Email ID, Mobile Number, State/UT, Post, and Nationality cannot be edited even during this window. Category can only be changed from General/EWS/OBC toward SC/ST/PwBD (not the reverse), and any fee already paid will not be refunded on such a change.
Selection process: Preliminary Examination (qualifying only, not counted toward final merit) → Main Examination → mandatory Personality Test (non-qualifying, but compulsory for interview eligibility) → Common Interview → Document Verification → Provisional Allotment. Final merit is calculated using Main Exam and Interview marks in an 80:20 ratio. Minimum qualifying marks in the interview are 40% (relaxed to 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates). A reserve list of approximately 20% of vacancies per category may also be maintained.
This is an All-India cadre post - provisionally allotted candidates may be posted anywhere in India (or occasionally outside India) at the allotting bank's discretion, and provisional allotment does not itself guarantee an offer of employment; it remains subject to document verification and medical fitness.
