Rajasthan Pre-Teacher Education Test (PTET) 2026 — 2-Year B.Ed Admission

The Rajasthan Pre-Teacher Education Test (PTET) is a state-level entrance examination that serves as the gateway to B.Ed admissions in Rajasthan. It has been conducted annually by a designated coordinating university on behalf of the Higher Education Department, Government of Rajasthan. For the 2026 session, Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU), Kota has been appointed as the conducting body.

PTET 2026 is being held for admission to two programmes:

• 2-Year B.Ed Course — for graduates and post-graduates
• 4-Year Integrated B.A. B.Ed / B.Sc. B.Ed Course — for Class 12 pass candidates

The significance of PTET goes beyond just college admission. Only candidates who complete their B.Ed after qualifying PTET become eligible to appear in REET (Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers) and RPSC Grade II Teacher Recruitment — Rajasthan's primary teacher hiring examinations. Lakhs of candidates appear for PTET every year, making it one of the most competitive teaching entrance tests in India. The exam is conducted offline in OMR-based format across exam centres spread across Rajasthan. Results are published on the official portal, and college allotment is done through an online counselling process.

The PTET 2026 syllabus comprises four sections, each with 50 questions of 3 marks each. Total: 200 questions, 600 marks, 3 hours.

Note: The Language Proficiency section is offered in Hindi or English only — candidates choose one. All other sections are bilingual (Hindi & English).

Cracking PTET 2026 requires a structured and consistent approach across all four sections. Here is a subject-wise strategy:

Mental Ability: Practice reasoning questions daily from standard aptitude books. Focus on speed and accuracy. Solve at least 30–40 questions daily and review mistakes. Strong logical thinking will set you apart.

Teaching Attitude & Aptitude: This section tests your instincts about the teaching profession. Read about NEP 2020, child psychology, and classroom management. Think from the perspective of an ethical, child-centric educator. There are no fixed answers — go with the most professional and empathetic option.

General Awareness: Read a daily newspaper (Rajasthan Patrika or Dainik Bhaskar preferred). Revise Rajasthan GK — history, geography, culture, fairs, and personalities — as this carries high weightage. Use monthly current affairs magazines or apps.

Language Proficiency: Choose Hindi or English based on your strength. For Hindi: focus on grammar rules and vocabulary. For English: practice comprehension passages and grammar daily.

Overall Tips:

• Since there is no negative marking, attempt all 200 questions
• Time management is critical — 200 questions in 180 minutes = 54 seconds per question
• Solve at least 5 previous year question papers
• Take full-length mock tests weekly to build stamina
• Revise Rajasthan GK thoroughly — it appears in General Awareness and is a differentiator

• General Category: 260–300 out of 600 (varies year to year)
• OBC / EWS: 240–280
• SC / ST: 220–260
