The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is the regulatory body for securities and commodity market in India under the ownership of the Ministry of Finance. SEBI was established in 1988 as a non-statutory body and made statutory on 30 January 1992. Its head office is in Mumbai and it has regional offices in New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. SEBI recruits for Grade A (Officer) posts through a written examination conducted annually, attracting candidates from commerce, law, IT, engineering and other backgrounds.
