Why the delay: declaration was held up by a case before the Telangana High Court (WP No. 7985/2026) over how much weightage to give Course Completed Act Apprentice (CCAA) candidates' marks. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Ex-Servicemen (ExSM), and Course Completed Act Apprentice (CCAA) candidates are exempt from the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Their shortlisting is published separately by the respective zonal RRC and their roll numbers do not appear in the main PET shortlist.

This RRB Group D (CEN 08/2024) result was delayed for several weeks due to a case before the Telangana High Court (WP No. 7985/2026) concerning how much weightage should be given to marks earned by Course Completed Act Apprentice (CCAA) candidates. RRB had also opened a special application modification window (17-23 June 2026) for CCAA candidates to update their NCVT certificate details before the result was finalised. The Court has now permitted RRBs to proceed with declaring the CBT result and continuing the recruitment process, but has directed that 15 vacancies be kept reserved until the case is finally disposed of. Every zone's shortlisting list carries an explicit note that the shortlisting is provisional and subject to that final judgement.

PET Admit Cards are being released in a phased, zone-wise manner - not all at once, and PET timing genuinely varies zone to zone. As of the latest update:

- Most other zones: unofficial estimates point to PET in the last week of July 2026 (around 29 July-1 August 2026), but this is NOT yet confirmed on official PDFs for every zone

This spread shows real zone-to-zone variance - do NOT assume your zone's PET date matches Prayagraj's or any other zone's dates. Each RRC publishes its own schedule independently, and candidates will also be notified via SMS/email when their admit card is live.
What Happens After PET: DV and Medical Examination
Candidates who clear PET (qualifying in nature - marks are not added to final merit) proceed to Document Verification, where original certificates, identity proof, and category certificates (if applicable) are checked, followed by a Medical Examination. All of these stages are conducted by the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) of the relevant zonal railway, not the RRB itself. PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, and CCAA candidates skip PET entirely and move toward DV/Medical directly.
Do Not Confuse This With CEN 09/2025 (A Separate, Newer Recruitment)
A second, entirely separate RRB Group D recruitment cycle - CEN 09/2025 (22,195 Level-1 vacancies) - is currently active and in its pre-exam stage. Its CBT is scheduled for 3-21 August 2026, with the City Intimation Slip expected around 24-25 July 2026 and Admit Card around 31 July 2026. This is a completely different applicant pool, notification, and vacancy count from the CEN 08/2024 drive covered on this page (which is already past its CBT and in the PET stage).
