The Railway Recruitment Boards will hold the CBT for CEN 02/2026 (6,557 Technician Grade I Signal and Grade III posts) on 6, 7, 8 and 9 October 2026. Exam city and date intimation slips are being released phase-wise from 27 September, about 10 days before each exam date, and e-call letters will follow about 4 days before each exam.

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are recruiting for 6,557 Technician posts under CEN No. 02/2026: 323 Technician Grade I Signal (Level-5) and 6,234 Technician Grade III (Level-2) across 21 RRBs.
Current status
- Exam schedule announced: 10 September 2026
- City and date intimation slips: released phase-wise from 27 September 2026, about 10 days before each exam date
- CBT: 6, 7, 8 and 9 October 2026
- E-call letters (admit cards): about 4 days before each candidate's exam date, from around 2 October
City slip is not the admit card
The city intimation slip only shows your exam city and date. Your exam centre address, shift and reporting time come on the e-call letter. Eligible SC/ST candidates can download their free Travel Authority along with the city slip.
Exam-day requirement
Aadhaar-based biometric verification is done at the centre. Carry your original Aadhaar and keep your Aadhaar biometrics unlocked.

Minimum Qualifying Marks (CBT)
UR/EWS 40%, OBC-NCL 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%; PwBD may get 2 marks relaxation if there is a shortfall
Exam-Day Verification
Aadhaar-based biometric verification at the centre; carry original Aadhaar
Educational Qualification
- Technician Grade I Signal: B.Sc (Physics/Electronics/Computer Science/IT/Instrumentation) or Diploma/Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Technician Grade III: Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI (NCVT/SCVT) or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trade; 10+2 with Physics and Maths also accepted for certain S&T posts

Age Limit
General Category: 18–33 years
Age as on 1 July 2026: Technician Grade I Signal 18–33 years; Technician Grade III 18–30 years. Relaxation for reserved categories as per Government of India/RRB rules; only one relaxation applies, and SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against unreserved vacancies get no relaxation.

Fee Refund Depends on Appearing
The CBT fee refund (₹400 for General/OBC/EWS, full ₹250 for concessional categories) is paid only if you actually appear in the CBT. Absent candidates forfeit the refund, so make sure your bank details in the application are correct.
