About the CPCT typing section
CPCT (Computer Proficiency Certification Test) is conducted by MAP_IT for Madhya Pradesh government jobs. Along with the computer-knowledge MCQs, it has separate English and Hindi typing sections, and your typing speed is printed on the scorecard. Many MP posts (Data Entry Operator, Assistant Grade-3, stenographer and clerical posts) ask for a CPCT scorecard with a minimum typing speed — the exact speed is in the recruitment notice of that post.
How to practise for CPCT Hindi typing
- Plain English keyboard is enough — no Hindi font or IME to install. The keys type Unicode (Mangal) Hindi.
- New to the layout? Start with Key Drill (one key at a time), then Practice (full paragraph, no timer).
- Switch to Test mode for a timed run and see your KPH, WPM and accuracy.
- Practise 15–20 minutes daily on a real keyboard; phone keyboards give wrong speeds.
Remington Gail or Inscript?
Most MP typists learn Remington Gail (the old typewriter / Kruti Dev key positions). Inscript is the standard Indian layout printed on many keyboards. Use the one you will type in the exam — you can switch at the top of the test.
